A) INTRO.. Cabinet level decision by the 1945 Labour government that before their families could join the entitled servicemen and certain military-sponsored civilians in the British Zone of Germany plans for an education system equivalent to the standards available to all in Britain, irrespective of service, rank or status, had to be in place.(1)
Questions were subsequently raised by MPs in the House of Commons seeking confirmation of (the aforementioned paragraph).....&that no special privileges would be given to officers' children (1a).
John Trevelyan, Director of BFES( later of British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) fame) was charged with developing a schools organisation so that children acccompanying their parents 'would receive' an education at least equal to the education they would have received had they remained in the UK.' 1.The children of Army Navy RAF serving personnel in Hamburg area of the British sector of North Germany BSH became effectively in 1947 (in its secondary element ) students of a first British comprehensive day school
2....using the Moray House intelligence test system (2) to stream for grammar secondary education within what was in other respects an early form of comprehensive' (with a life-changing consequence for many pupils (9)
3. BSH opened in 1947 with 325 children & 19 staff (7) ...( children thereat age 7 to 15 were bussed in each day from all parts of Hamburg environs). (9)

F)CLOSURE...... -(circa 1954)....
...was as a consequence of British Zone service personnel locating south of the Rhine due to restructuring of BAOR and RAF (Germany) into the British elements of the new NATO force based in West Germany .
(BAOR then became more responsible for the defence of West Germany than its occupation. It became the primary formation controlling the British contribution to NATO, after the formation of that alliance in 1949). (4)
